The right time to move depends on when you think it is right. Moving is a stressful and difficult process.
To make the smooth as smooth as possible it is vital that you take your situation into consideration. Only move house when you believe you are emotionally and financially ready to do so. The timing depends entirely on you.
Planning ahead will make the whole process of moving house a lot easier and fun. Make sure you consider all the pros and cons of moving at a particular time of the year before you make the big decision. Doing things half way will cause you a lot of stress and trouble in the end. The move will impact each member of your family differently so you need to ensure that everyone is comfortable with the timing.
Check your kids’ school calendar
If you have kids then it is important that you check their school calendar. The best time to move with kids is during the summer holidays. This ensures that your kids are as less affected as possible. This also gives them time to get adjusted to the new surroundings.
Make sure you time the moving in such a way that your kids get time to unpack properly and make new friends. The idea of leaving behind your home to live in a new place can be very traumatic for some kids. Don’t make the move difficult for your kids.
Also take some time out to visit their new school with them and also meet the teachers.
Special occasions
Moving at the time of special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries can be difficult.
Big family events such as weddings are very stressful and require a lot of time and effort to plan. The same goes for moving to a new house. Avoid planning both together unless necessary.
Birthdays and anniversaries don’t require much effort but you need to consider the emotional factor when it comes to such events.
Kids would want to celebrate their birthdays with their old friends and in familiar surroundings. Make sure a special day for your very special family is not spoiled. You and your family should enjoy the move, not resent it.
Seasonal Holidays
Plan your move well ahead of or after major holidays such as Christmas or Thanksgiving. Moving in winter can prove to be difficult.
Enjoy your Christmas with your old friends in your old home. This will give you a great chance to say goodbye to all your friends and move with happy memories. Planning ahead of a holiday is also a good idea as it gives you time to make new friends and feel that you are indeed part of the new community.
